Filtering contents from the Fediverse Report

Sounds like following a staged user. I wouldn’t put that into a new topic list, that would be too confusing. Rather something attached to that user… As a user, I would look for that in the staged user’s activity tab.

(Some topic splitting should happen here)

Yes, you’d probably have a list in your profile too. The “discovery” topic list would be of the topics involving all of the users you’re following. This is the same problem I tackled (and that CDCK has since taken on) with Discourse’s local follow plugin. In fact, if user following were introduced into the ActivityPub plugin it would potentially make the Follow plugin redundant. But, let’s see.

If I understand well, the “Discovery” tab would show topics people you follow are involved in. Presented this way it makes more sense than adding a wall of random contributions by a bunch of people. I mean that, in the way Discourse notifications allows to watch first post, a sorted, uniq’d list of emergent topics from your closer network would be very useful indeed, without focusing too much on “users”, as that would feel like stalking.

At the #OMN project our way of getting round this flooding issue is to have flows as grouped hashtags, this would give the Fediverse Report the ability to “send article” to #socialhub by adding an agreed hashtag.

In the fediverse We are at a very early stage of treating data as just data to flows in a “common data pool” which is kinda what we are stumbling towards with this openweb reboot and some of these hard to comprehend fep tech posts…

Slow with dead-ends, organic is good, but better tools for composting please

Ive poked Matthias/Pfefferle (dev for wordpress AP plugin) for being able to follow WordPress directly from a Discourse category. Its something that I would like for the Fediverse Report category (see discussiong above), but would obviously be more relevant for the ecosystem in general

@how @angus could you get in touch with @pfefferle to help him with testing?

@pfefferle what do you need from this side? @angus is probably your interlocutor since he will be able to understand logs and bugs, adjust code, and the Fediverse Report categoy here.
