I’m Pablo, one of the maintainer of Funkwhale. We have an Nlnet fund of 2500 euros to develop an ActivityPub python library. The work started here and was dropped : funkwhale / pyfed · GitLab.
If anybody is interest let me know. The fund will be lost if the work isn’t completed before 12/2024.
I appreciate the high level goals of the library. Is there a roadmap for it? What is the scope tied to the funding?

This team did a difficult Python task for ACA-Py (Hyperledger Aries) and I am sure if they commit, they will get it done.
the only scope is defined in the fund description :
Ease Python developer experience by creating a standardized ActivityPub library. To enable us and other Python projects
to extend ActivityPub’s capabilities, we want to create a standardized library for the protocol. The Bookwyrm team are interested in collaborating on this project. Previous efforts in this area are unmaintained or target specific frameworks that we can’t use, but they may act as a basis for the work. (€ 2500)

Thanks for the update. We’re definitely interested in working on the ActivityPub Python library and can commit to finishing it by the deadline. Juan Caballero flagged this to us as well.
