Anti Meta Fedi Pact

Since Zuck’s recent comments justifying the removal of fact-checkers by their “political bias” and the need to defend “free speech”, a new wave of exodus started from Mata products. As soon as Project92, AKA Threads dot net was announced, a bunch of “Masto zealots” – to knick John Gruber’s term – proposed the fedipact, one and a half year before the Zuckerberg outbreak.

The Fedi Pact pledge:

“i am an instance admin/mod on the fediverse. by signing this pact, i hereby agree to block any instances owned by meta should they pop up on the fediverse. project92 is a real and serious threat to the health and longevity of fedi and must be fought back against at every possible opportunity”

On @FediPact@cyberpunk.lol:

hiiiiiiiiiiii welcome to the NEW official account for The Anti-Meta Fedi Pact at https://fedipact.online/

The Pact was started on june 17th, 2023 by @vantablack as a way to defend against meta’s intended incursion into the fediverse

it’s basically a (very pretty) list of instances who’ve signed it and agreed to block project92/barcelona/threads whenever it appears

to read about vanta’s personal reasons for creating The Pact you can visit 🖤 Why? 🖤

Although already mentioned in https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/how-to-deal-with-highly-controversial-fep-submissions/3876/5, I thought this should deserve its own topic.

The " Why the Anti-Meta Fedi Pact is good strategy for people who want the fediverse to be an alternative to surveillance capitalism" section of Should the Fediverse welcome its new surveillance-capitalism overlords? Opinions differ! (mostly written in June-July 2023, although with some minor updates) has some of my perspectives on this.

The Free Fediverse wiki is also a good resource on the fediverse’s interactions with Meta in general. Free Fediverse
