EU outreach - If we dont tell our story am not sure who will

This needs links and examples adding, feel free to edit and change, thanks.

The #openweb has become an integral part of our daily lives, with almost every aspect of our existence now touched by it. However, over the years, concerns have grown about the centralized nature of the internet and the power politics this creates. The rise of social media giants such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google has brought this issue to the fore. These platforms, #dotcons, are centralized and controlled by a handful of powerful corporations, which poses a significant threat to user privacy and freedom of expression.

In response to this, a disparate group of committed libertarian “cats” from the Fediverse community decided to take #directaction to promote decentralized and #openweb models of the Fediverse to the European Union (#EU). The Fediverse is a collection of decentralized social networking platforms that use the ActivityPub protocol to interconnect with each other.

The Fediverse crew participated in EU events, conferences, engaged with policy-makers. They explained the benefits of decentralized and autonomous models of the #openweb and how they can shape a more humane online world. As a result, a minority of people in the #EU became interested in these technologies and began to adopt them in a soft rollout of “official” instances.

The huge growth of Mastodon, one of the most popular social networking platforms in the Fediverse, due to the #Twittermigration attracted a diverse and vibrant community of users from across the EU and the world. This growth helped to validate the importance of decentralized internet and its potential to shape a more humane world.

From this seed, Today, ActivityPub, Fediverse, and Mastodon continue to grow to becoming important players in the EU’s efforts to promote a more humane internet. The unspoken grassroots outreach and community-building efforts by the Fediverse “cats” have empowered us, and helped to shift the EU closer to being what they say they are.

The story of the mouse and the elephant making friends is a reminder that even the most Eurocratic and ossified institutions can embrace radical grassroots movements. The Fediverse “cats” have shown that by working together, we can be a part of the change we would like to see. The #openweb is a powerful tool, and it is up to us to use it.

In conclusion, the efforts of the Fediverse community to promote decentralized and autonomous models of the internet to the EU have been successful. Our outreach and advocacy have helped to shift the EU closer to promoting a more humane internet, and the growth of platforms such as Mastodon has validated the importance of these models. It is up to all of us to ensure that the internet is used for the betterment of society.

Draft story about our #EU outreach, THIS IS A WIKI please edit the story and add links, thanks.

The mouse and elephant make friends.

This is a story of a committed bunch of libertarian Fediverse “cats” who managed to hold together long enough to get one of the largest most Eurocratic and ossified institutions to embrace the radical grassroots openweb.

Outreaching #ActivityPub a protocol for decentralized social networking based on #openweb standards to the European Union.

#Mastodon is built on this free, #4opens, decentralized microblogging and is part of the #Fediverse.

Something about https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/

The grassroots outreach of these technologies to the European Union started as a way to promote alternative models of the internet that were more inclusive, equitable, and empowering for users. The EU was seen as a natural fit due to its commitment to promoting human rights, privacy, and data protection online.

The outreach effort focused on raising awareness of the benefits of decentralized and #openweb models of the internet and how these technologies could be used to create a more equitable and sustainable “native” European online environment. A devires group of libertarian “cats” of the #fediverse participating in EU-sponsored events, such as hackathons and tech conferences, as well as engaging with policy-makers and stakeholders through direct outreach and advocacy campaigns.

NEED a hashtag link to this outreach.

As the outreach effort continued, a minority of people in the #EU became interested in these technologies (and #openweb culture) and began to adopt them in a soft rollout of “official” services. this was a first step. The Fediverse and Mastodon rapidly grew in popularity due to the #twittermigration, attracting a diverse and vibrant community of users from across the EU and the world. This growth helped to validate the importance of decentralized and autonomous models of the internet and their potential to shape a more inclusive and equitable online environment.

Today, ActivityPub, Fediverse, and Mastodon continue to grow to be important players in the EU’s efforts to promote a more humane internet. Through continued grassroots outreach and community-building efforts, these technologies can empower users and citizens to create a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable online environment for all.

With the #mainstreaming flooding in, we need to tell our own stories or be swamped by their bad narrative. Here we have the successful subject of the “cats” and the #Eurocrats

We have a good, convoluted #4opens process on the search link in the draft that needs putting into short words.

Then how to communicate the value in this “cat melowling”

Let’s try and keep the “signal” in the current “noise”.

Well, it looks like we are taking BIG steps to becoming the new #mainstreaming. The libertarian cats have officially changed the world WordPress.com owner Automattic acquires an ActivityPub plugin so blogs can join the Fediverse | TechCrunch well done guys, now can we write some history please.

We played a part in the HUGE story, if we don’t write this the parasites and fashernistas, #NGO Burocrats and PR companies will… Help tell the story here, please.

This is a positive story and a strong lesson to learn from the outcome:

https://social.network.europa.eu/about/

https://tube.network.europa.eu/about/instance

As you can see they soon dumped the grassroots crew who made it happen and employed #NGO “experts” on how to run them, this lead to ossification.

The morale of the story, keep the “cats” onboard, is as much an issue of the “libertarian cats” as it is of the #Eurocrats.

STRONG lesson to learn from this.

They do now speak our language now, but the #mainstreaming move back to the openweb is filling with #NGO parasites. This needs some concerted grassroots activism to hold them to account for the mess they push. Please use the #4opens and try to be polite is my thinking, now where is my shovel?

Good to understand, when dealing with #mainstreaming people, there is a strong #blocking from their incompetence, paranoia and mental health issues. This is draining, we need good social paths to mediate this mess that 40 years of head down worshipping a #deathcult has left with us to work with in tech and the wider society.

If you are interested in the #AP #openweb reboot that is happing now. This event needs some activism Registration - Next Generation Internet Forum 2023 but will have to push to open a space as it will be closed outa the box.

One of the messes we could work to mediate with the continuing influx of #mainstremaing people to our openweb reboot is the friction this courses to us. We need stronger native cultures so that this friction is not directly on us as individuals, we need this to spread the #mainstreaming abrashern and build up our strength to hold #4opens to this reboot.

This is now live to use on all WordPress sites, with opt in still a bit hidden away, slow can be good.

Our commitment to the fediverse is here to stay.

Today, we launched our new Mastodon instance. It will ensure a privacy-focused space to engage with and get the latest from our Commissioners, departments, and the official voices of the Commission.

We want to thank @Mastodon for stewarding us and helping us make this possible.
Fostering European digital players is vital to our strategy for a stronger #DigitalEU.

This is a unique opportunity to grow the community even more. Let’s get there!

Notice the thanks is to mastodon management, not to socialhub who made this happen - if we don’t write our own history other people will write it for us. This is a normal outcome, if you are seruse about sustaining the reboot of the openweb then you can’t keep doing this normal #KISS
