new from me: FR#152 - The DSA Needs Big Tech

The panel at FOSDEM with @alexandrageese and @mellifluousbox about the DSA and the fediverse showed a deep structural tension: the DSA's power depends on Big Tech platforms existing, and the fediverse is a network specifically designed they won't

@fediversereport Hi, opening this in a browser doesn't open the article. Instead it wants to open some "downloadfile.bin"

@squirrel @fediversereport same

@dgodon @squirrel huh weird, never seen that bug before. cant really seem to be able to replicate it either. does it still happen, and if so, mind sending a screenshot?

@fediversereport It works now. It was basically a download prompt from Firefox that asked if I want to download "downloadfile.bin". I'll screenshot it if it happens again.

@fediversereport @alexandrageese @mellifluousbox Truth Social seems like an obvious counter example to fediverse based social media is intrinsically safe and trustworthy

How so? I’d say it’s the opposite. Mastodon’s AGPL code was used to bootstrap the platform, but AFAIK they turned the federation components off when a loud chorus of fediverse devs said they’d FediBlock them.
