New user rules preventing discussion

Hey all you wonderfuld Fedi folks,

I joined the forum to discuss a proposal for a spec, but as a new user I can respond to the thread only once. This does somewhat defeat the purporse of the discussion as I literally cannot respond to a quesiton to drive the initiative forwards.

Is there a way to relax this rule so I could participate?
