Hello everybody,
we are new here and hence a short intro:
We are a group of European-based digital activist that got together at last years’ ‘Freedom Not Fear’ (https://freedomnotfear.org/)
This is where we first heard about the EDPS’s initiative EU Voice & Video.
We were really lucky and got funded by NL-Net to study EU Voice & Video as a case study for governments on the Fediverse.
Our general goal is to understand what it took for EU Voice & Video to self-host and admin, and what change was needed for involved institutions to integrate into the Fediverse.
We are planning to do a series of FOIA requests and interviews regarding overall organisation and integration into workflows of admins, social media mangers and user perspectives. We plan to publish lessons learned and recommendations for governments (and possibly) who are interested in alternative social media outreach.
We are preparing the FOIA requests at the moment as well as an interview guide with questions that we will also publish here for feedback.
We would love to make this research useful for this community, so if you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out to us!
That’s all for now, thanks for reading and we will keep you posted!
Billie (for the Fedivariety team)

Welcome to SocialHub!
Quite a bunch of interesting work ahead of you.
As input for the task ahead, I can point you to the 3-day workshop we organized:

PS. Note the collapsed regions on that published page, which contain lists of attendants.

Nice! I think @laurens might have helpful input, having talked to some governments before (?), and I think I remember reading once about a program to integrate local government into the fediverse, maybe organized by digitalcourage.de and/or fedicamp? sorry I can’t seem to find the links at the moment.
Ah thanks, that’s really useful!
Some interesting people on the participant list. I believe that helekin also had a workshop for local governments at last year’s OFFDEM (?). We’ve been in contact with Francesco Albinati and Robert Riemann from EDPS before, but we also want to reach out the Open Source Programme Office, so that’s a really useful contact there.

That’s a good tip, thanks a lot. We might reach out in due time.
And I think I’ve seen something similar last year from a fedicamp, but now all I can find is this from the digitalcourgare from CCCamp23: Fediverse - media.ccc.de.
Yes, indeed. Hellekin / @how is admin of this forum.
